A renovation turns up more metal than most people expect: old roofing iron, guttering, copper pipe, a hot water system, the laundry tub. Put it in a skip with the rubbish and you pay to get rid of it. Put it in a scrap metal bin and we pay you for it.

Book the bin before the work starts. Tell us what you're pulling out, roughly how much and where the bin should go, and we'll suggest a size. Throwing metal straight into a bin is far easier than moving a pile of it twice.

Pick the spot. The bin needs firm, level ground with room for our truck to get in and out. If it has to go on the road or the nature strip, you'll usually need a permit from your council, so check with them before you book.

Keep it to metal. Steel, iron, copper, brass and aluminium can all go in, along with roofing, fencing, guttering, old tools and washing machines or stoves. Rubbish, timber, plastic and green waste can't, and neither can gas bottles, aerosol cans, drums with fuel or oil in them, fridges or air conditioners that still hold gas, or anything with asbestos in it.

Set the good stuff aside. Copper pipe, brass taps and aluminium window frames are worth far more than steel, and clean, sorted metal gets a better price than a mixed load. Keep them in a bucket on the side and bring them in yourself, or ask us about keeping them separate in the bin.

Call us when it's full. We'll collect it, or swap it for an empty one if the job isn't finished, then weigh it at our Hallam yard and pay you for the metal by bank transfer. Have your photo ID and your BSB and account number handy.
