What We Buy
Scrap Air Conditioners
Old split systems, window and wall units, portable and ducted air conditioners. They're full of copper pipe and aluminium fins, so whole units have their own price, once the gas is out.
We Pay on Average
$1,000 per tonne
An average as of . What you're paid depends on the grade, how clean and sorted it is, how much you bring and the metals market; we confirm the price when your scrap is graded and weighed. What affects the price · See all prices
Overview
Degassed First
An air conditioner is a steel case around a compressor, copper pipe, aluminium fins and a fan motor. Whole units are bought at their own price, so there's no need to pull them apart.
Before we can take one, the refrigerant gas has to be removed by a licensed technician. It's illegal to release it, so units that still hold gas can't come into the yard. If you're replacing a system, ask your installer to recover the gas from the old one.

How It Works
Selling scrap at our Hallam yard takes a few minutes.
Bring it in
Bring your scrap to our Hallam yard in the car, ute or trailer. For bigger loads, we can collect.
We sort and weigh it
We sort your metal by grade and weigh each grade on its own, so every kilo is paid at the right price.
Show your ID
Victorian law requires us to record photo ID from everyone who sells us scrap metal.
Get paid
We pay by bank transfer, as scrap metal dealers in Victoria can't pay in cash. Bring your BSB and account number.

Before You Bring Them In
Have the gas recovered, then bring the units in whole. We pay for the metal, so it makes no difference whether a unit still works.
