Clearing Old Machinery Off the Farm

Most farms have a corner where old machinery goes to retire: a tractor that hasn't started in years, a plough, a slasher, a rusted-out trailer, a pile of old fencing. It's all worth money as scrap, and we can come and collect it.

Decide what's scrap. We pay scrap prices, by weight. If a machine still runs and is worth something second-hand, you'll usually get more by selling it as it is. Anything past that point is worth its weight in steel and cast iron.

Take off the valuable parts if you have time. Electric motors, copper wiring, brass fittings and aluminium parts are worth more than steel, and taken off, they're paid at their own price. Take out any batteries and gas bottles too: we buy the batteries as lead, but gas bottles have to stay behind.

Drain the fluids. Oil, fuel and hydraulic fluid should come out before the pickup. If you can't drain something, tell us when you book, so we can plan for it.

Clear the way. Make sure our truck can get close, and pull rubbish, timber and tyres away from the pile. Let us know if anything is bolted down or hard to reach.

Send us photos. Tell us what's there, roughly how big it is and how to get to it, and we'll give you a price for the metal, let you know about any collection charge and book a pickup that suits. We can take most machinery whole, so there's usually no need to cut anything up.

We collect from farms and rural properties across Melbourne's south-east. Everything is weighed at our Hallam yard, and you're paid by bank transfer.
